    Cats are natural explorers

What you consider as 'weird places' cats consider uncharted territory just ripe for the picking

They genetically have that 'Louis & Clark' spirit in them (If I can quote Seinfeld)

Cats feel safe either up high or in really tight, enclosed spaces where nothing and no one can reach them. It's biological. You can domesticate cats, but you can't take out of them what they have been doing for thousands of years to survive. ANy house cat will more than likely come down with treats or will let you pet them, sure. But a feral cat, high up in a tree branch will fight and fight.

  • It's to do with the behaviour of their ancestors in the wild.  Cats instinctively hide when they feel threatened and they feel more secure if they are high up.
