Distance from our planet, that good enough for you?

The Sun looks small to us because it's so far away from us. Think about looking at a mountain on the horizon. The mountain looks much smaller than your house. But get up close and it turns out the mountain is massive!

Because its a ridiculous distance away. The sun gives energy to life on Earth.

Because it shrinks when you're looking at it. It tends to be very shy around others so it does not reveal its true size.

    It is 93,000,000 miles away.

It is approximately 93 Million miles away from Earth

I would not like to walk that distance

It would be too hot anyway

At 1.3 Million miles diameter it is the Largest and most Dense body in our Solar System

Its Mass is more than the rest of the Planets put together, including even Jupiter

It is the Fulcrum of our whole Solar System, right out to the farthest edge of the Oort Cloud

Which lies about a Light Year away

The sun used to be much larger, but it went on a diet.
