Can you help me with English please?
The chapter explains:
- presents writing as both a skill and a process of discovery
- suggests keeping a journal
What do these words "process" and "discovery" mean in this case?
- Anonymous7 months agoFavourite answer
Process: a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular purpose
Discovery: becoming aware of something
Sometimes writing helps us clarify our thinking about something whose implications, ramifications or interrelationships we had not been consciously aware of before. It can be like a voyage to explore little-known territory.
Is there something "strange" about this metaphor?
- John PLv 77 months ago
"Process" means an on-going matter, something not of one single moment. In that context the word "discovery" means finding things gradually, not expecting a single answer to every question.
The expression "process of discovery" is one of the favourite phrases of people who supply education.
Note that educationalists and people in "management" tend to use vocabulary which ordinary members of the public find strange!
