Amélie or Leila? Which girls name sounds prettier?

Amélie - pronounced as Ah-MAY-lee

Leila - pronounced the same as Layla

Which name is more beautiful and why?

And what kind of girl do you picture with each of these names?

I love both names! I have a friend whose name is Leila.Am èlie is the French version for Amelie whereas Leila is a name of celtic origins.i find both names very elegant and melodic sounding.

Having to make a choice, however, i would choose Leila. It sounds like the name of a princess.

I love both. I've never heard Amélie said like that tho Ive always pronounced it uh-Mee-Lee.I actually prefer the spelling Leyla over Leila/Layla

You clearly don't speak French. That's not how you pronounce Amelie. It's a pretty name when it's pronounced correctly.

Amélie by a long shot. Leila/Layla is incredibly common.

Amelie is sweet, an exotic delicate name, where Leila is more common, but also an elegant name.
