Car key got stuck in ignition. How can I get it out?

Just had a new key cut at a jaguar dealership for a 1990 jaguar xj6 because I lost the original key. Put new key in ignition and turned on but wont pull out all the way. Called dealership and they kept insisting right off the bat that it wasnt the key they made but the ignition was worn and even though the oringinal key never got stuck. What do I do to fix this?

It could be that the ignition was worn and the original key was similarly worn to match.

In any case, I suggest driving to the dealer, where they should be able to do something.

Squirt some WD40 into the lock as this may help to free it off.

move the steering wheel back and forth while pulling on the key , sometimes the steering lock jams and will not release the key
