I've never heard of a limit to the number of Windows systems in a workgroup.  The number of concurrent connections, however, is restricted by licence, 5 for Home and 10 for Pro.  I understand that there are ways to exceed the licensed limit — but I'm not going to risk a ban by giving links...

I forgot there was a limit. I believe Laurence is correct that it is 5.

5 otherwise if you use xp pro its 10. if you are sharing a folder make sure you create the folder as a root folder and not as a USER folder and set its ownership( and apply to all sub folders) to anyone or a specific grooup and not a specific user. You may also need to SHARE something on all the computers to get it all to work.
