Why do a lot of people say music was better in the 1970s and 1980s?

    Because it is in my opinion. Nowadays, you've got attitude and country going hip hop. Also, you've got your classic songs from your 70's and 80's being turned into a bad rendition usually with rap and or rap beats.

    Beats me. The best music was the Big Band Era in the 1940's. Everything after that, especially Rock n Roll, is noise.

    because the performers actually wrote their own songs much of the time then. now everything am just ear-candy, formulaic repetitive rubbish.

    because people sang from the heart, the melodies and music was a lot more interesting and there was a lot of optitism in the music
