is it true that tuberculosis can confine you to bed for 3 years?

just watching an interview on youtube with the late great richard harris, in which he remarked he was once confined to bed with tuberculosis for 3 years back in ireland going way back, where he used the time - confined to his bed- to read tons of books like richard the 3rd.

    Yes my Mother had it in the 50s. She lay flat on her back in a hospital in Plymouth for a year. They had some good drugs in those days so the stay was only a year. She was Xrayed every 2 years after that until 1980,

    Yes.My father had it in the 1950's and couldn't walk more than a few yards. He was confined to a bed downstairs until he had to go to hospital where he died aged 40 in 1957.

    It can do much worse if left untreated or treated too late. Affecting your nervous system it can paralyse bodyparts

    yes especially if poorly treated

    That used to be the case, before there were antibiotics which started to be used in the late 1940s. Bed rest is not part of the treatment now.

    Yes it is  Tom Jones was confined to bed for two years when he had as a child
