There are missiles launched from above the surface that can target submarines.

If the submarine is submerged, the missile would have to be below the surface to hit the submarine.

AS PHRASED, your question implies the missile is above the surface on impact.

Yes it is. It is called ASROC (Anti Submarine Rocket). Been around for over 40 years.

The ASROC is launched from a Surface Ship or Aircraft and fly's to location above or close to where the submarine is and enters the water and converts to a torpedo.

Technically, a torpedo is a missile that is launched from under water at a target that is also under water.

Yes they were used during WWII!

    Look up Hedgehogs!

And a depth charge is a form of missile as well as a missile is a weapon that fly's through the air.

Not all Missiles are Rocket shaped.

Or powered as they can be just dropped!

Yes. A nuclear blast or a MOAB could create enough of a shock wave to sink a sub.

It depends on the armament of the missile and the depth of the submarine.

Yes there are antisubmarine ship launched missiles. If you have seen the old film 'The Bedford Incident' you would see one in action.
