is the updated VLC player as good as the outdated version?
i have a custom built windows 7 desktop pc and i mainly use vlc player to play my media, music and video....but my version of vlc player is years and years old because i haven't updated it, because i'm biased about modern versions of software, i think in a lot of cases, old version was better with more features and better user interface.
but in the case here, if i was to update to the newest vlc player would it be as good as the old version i'm using now?

The newer versions have some nice features, but probably stuff you'll never use. If the version you have works well to play all your media, why would you need to upgrade?
Plus, VLC will come to the point where the latest version won't even work on Windows 7. It might have already! Microsoft themselves are leaving Windows 7 behind this year.

Update for security reasons alone. If you don't like the newer version you could always uninstall and get an older version from websites like FileHippo or OldApps.com

There two reasons why software is updated.
1. To add new features.
2. To Update Security to keep hackers out.
Keep your software up to date.
