Go to breaker box and try dem switches and see if you can kill it. Worry about it in the spring/summer

Either the condenser is dead, the relay for the condenser fan is stuck, controls are wired wrong

this is a control problem on the hvac's electrical board [on the outside unit]. maybe the relay for the fan is sticking and simply needs cleaning. maybe the whole control board needs replacing. if the latter, this is a job for a professional

Look on the thermostat. It may be set to fan instead of auto. If so the fan runs continuously. Set it to auto.

The A/C SHOULD have a dedicated circuit in the main panel. If you shut off the breaker, it should cut power to the unit.

i would have someone that has experience in it come over and look at it

Disconnect the power supply at the motor control center or breaker box depending on the size of the unit.

Call a repairman. Flip the breaker if you must. The unit has deadly condensers inside. They can shock you to death.
