      Yes. But the answer is "When data is sent from the Session Layer." (Which is the layer *above* the Transport layer.)

    Why do they still teach the OSI 7 layer model? It's obsolete. You won't find a single place in the world where the 5, 6 and 7 layers are used as described in the model. The CCITT standards built around the OSI model are obsolete.

    You'll find layers 1, 2 and 3 still in use and layer 4 implemented a different way but that's it.
