How do you find the actual rate $/hr ? given regular hr/wk, overtime hr/week, and ovetime rate?

Lets say a painter has a base wage of $12.00/ hr how would you find the "actual rate" given

-40 hours/week

- 5 overtime hours/week

-overtime rate=1.5

    (40 x 12) + (5 x 18) = 680/45 = actual rate

    $12 times 40 = $480 for the regular hours

    1.5 times $12 times 5 = $90 for the overtime.

    Now add $480 plus $90 to find the total made in a week.

    And then divide by the total hours (40 plus 5) to find the average rate per hour.
