Is the lottery a waste of money?

    I had a few smallish lotto wins decades ago, one was for $1624, another for $2100 and one for $450. I buy a weekly lotto ticket for $5.75, so it's not a lot to lose. As the saying goes, "You've gotta be in it to win it."

    Depends whom you ask. For players, it often is. For lottery operators, it's a windfall ( which is why governments love lotteries... )
