A back pack, is usually compartmentalized., while A Ruck Sack is just a huge canvas bag with Shoulder straps, and a closure flap.

A Fanny-Pack is a small purse sized zippered bag worn on a belt around the waist. I keep my pants pockets empty with my "necessary stuff" in the Pack compartments.

I'm assuming you meant BACK not BAG. If you didn't, just ignore EVERYTHING.

They are the same thing. The word 'rucksack' has gone out of fashion with American English.
