Why is the Saudi Arabia government depends on America to protect their country, if they are so powerful to attack Yemen?

Saudi Arabia can handle tasks like attacking a small, poor country like Yemen or luring a journalist into their embassy and violently killing and dismembering him. Iran is a different story. Saudi citizens attacked the world trade center. Why DOES the Saudi Arabian government depend on the United States for anything? Why doesn't the United States hold Saudi Arabia accountable?

The Middle East has a way of thinking that does not match the West. There wouldn't even be a Saudi Arabia if it wasn't for the West. But the Islamic schools of thought are showing that the Muslims cannot form a cohesive army, the underlying ideologies prevent it. Their governments never learned to solve the problem of a government which must bow to a religious institution, like the West's Roman Catholic bloody past. So Muslim governments are stuck in fundamentalism. They will always be that way until government is allowed to operate independent of religious dominance and control. Not that a secular government will be able to keep itself from authoritarianism and corruption. But as long as religious persecution is legal in those countries, they will need the West to help them.
