    The line y= Ax+B is tangent to the graph of f(x)=x² at the point P=(-4,16). Find A and B.

    slope of the curve is f' = 2x

    at x = –4, slope is 2(–4) = –8

    therefore straight line is

    y = (–8)x + B

    find b by plugging in point

    16 = (–8)(–4) + B16 = 32 + BB = 16 – 32 = – 16equation of line isy = –8x – 16
