That's why you have children to join in the responsibility.

Because in a modern household everyone is busy and no one has the luxury of being a dedicated house-spouse. So unless you're hiring help a functional couple does what it needs to do to maintain a healthy standard of living. One day he might be on a deadline so she'll pick up the slack. The next day she might have a late meeting so he'll be the one to cook dinner. Normal people work this out like adults and it never becomes an issue.

We just do them in the most expeditious way. It doesn't matter who does them, just that they get done and out of the way. We have too many FUN things to do, to worry about who's doing the most chores.

Why? Because if it ever became one or the other's responsibility through illness, accident, death or divorce, then they will already KNOW how to do it, when to do it and the why behind it all, because they HAVE done it. Specially if there are children BOTH parents need to know what it takes to keep their lives as normal as possible. That's my take on it.

For the same reason older children need to help out around the home on a regular basis so that they can manage when they move on and move out. They can then look after their home too.

Guys want to know why the ladies tend to get the custody? Its because for the most part they are the ones already doing it, some with little or no support from the male adult in the team.

Well done then. Being able to look after yourself, your home and your family in the future is a great start to independent life.

Nobody should feel like they are the only person doing certain chores...it sucks. So we just make sure we rotate around so we all get to do a little bit of everything.
