    For me it has to be the ability to act! Some of the actors around today do not seem to know how to act and make it look like they are not acting a part in a film.

    Good looking and a personality also helps, but acting has to be number one.

    Know what roles to accept... do a lot of disciplined research... breathing... probably also drawing from prior past experiences in life and applying the emotions of them to the portrayal...

    Not all successful actors are good-looking.

    Someone where when you see them on screen you forget they are so and so, and only see the person they're portraying.

    I suspect that "easy to work with" also play a role for those working with them.
