You WIll go to a state mental facility, for a minimum of 72 hours.  Maybe a week, depends. Cops Hate dealing with suicides, or rather, attempted.  No matter how remorseful you act when they get there, or how apologetic. They often get rough. The oldest trick in the book is:"May I talk to you?", you don't use a police chain, they crack door open, they  pull you outside and cuff you.

This detaining IS an arrest; just because you dont go to jail doesnt mean it isnt. Might even have a record of it, later.

In most cases you'd be cuffed and taken to an acute psych intake center to begin your 72 hour involuntary hold.

Suicide is not illegal, and you won't get arrested. Suicide is considered a mental health issue, not a legal one.

What they can do is take you into protective custody and deliver you to a mental health facility where you can remain for up to 72 hours until you are cleared by the doctor or have a court hearing to determine if you are a danger to yourself.

They will arrest you for your safety and bring you to the hospital near by to do an evaluation on you. If you refuse they will tase you if they can not talk you back to a more calmer place. If they have to end up tasing you, you will get chatged with resisting a police officer and obstruction of justice. Its happe ed to people I know.

The police are going to subdue you either with pepper spray or with the taser for your own protection. And then you're going to get the charge added resisting an arrest and interfering with the police's duties. Don't resist police officers! Things are not going to go your way. Cooperate be courteous and you'll do less jail time.

A Verbal Refusal is Avoiding.,not Resisting. They can do Nothing unless you Physically resist.

That NEVER happens. They don't arrest you for being suicidal. They do attempt to prevent you from killing yourself and get you treatment.

Being suicidal is not a crime. They can not arrest you for that. That can restrain you for your safety and take you - against your will - to receive treatment at a hospital. But they can not "arrest" you. The can commit you for treatment against you will if they determine you are a threat to yourself or others. It would be up to the police at the scene to make that determination.
