    The name was given to him AFTER his death and was most likely due to the colour of his armour or shield. If you are referring to the Afro-centricist BS about his mother being 'black' because of a medieval description that said she was 'brown all over', meaning simply she had olive skin instead of the milk-white preferred at the time. They didn't call back people black back then, his mother was clearly a white woman if you look at her made-to-life tomb effigy. There are also millions of descendants from this same bloodline and NA refutes the nonsense.
