Will renters insurance cover?

I rent a house from my alcoholic stubborn father in law who has no insurance on the house. I have renters insurance if a tree falls on the house will it cover?

It may cover your belongings. It won't do a thing for him.

Your possessions, most likely. The building itself...nope.

Renter's insurance covers a loss of your possessions. Cant you get your father into a rehab facility or a hospital?

It would probably cover the damage to your things in the house. It would not cover the damage to the house or the damage to the tree.

His insurance would cover that. Renters is just your stuff mostly.

I believe renters insurance is for the renter's contents in the building and not for the building. Any damage to the building will be your alcoholic stubborn father in law's. Your furnishings would be insured but if the building is not habitable you will have to find a new home to furnish with your new stuff

Be glad that you have an alcoholic stubborn father in law to even rent from in the first place!
