Why does the SAT have to go in stages, why can't you just take it all the way through?

I just took my first SAT, do they realize how much sooner everyone could leave if, rather than having to do each part at the particular time, you were allowed to just take the whole thing at once?

The reason they don't let you just work through all sections is that questions in the later sections can reveal the correct answers from the earlier sections.
