Planet Hollywood vs Paris Las Vegas Hotel?

My boyfriend and I are planning a December trip before Christmas. We are both freshly 21, and want to spend some time gambling. We don't care about the pool since we won't be using it. My main focus is the hotel room since we can do pretty much everything else anywhere else on the strip. I narrowed it down to these two because they are both very similar on the reviews and are basically center strip and same price range. Please let me know pros and cons of both hotels and any advice/things to do for a first-time in Vegas couple.

Side note: my boyfriend and I really like the Paris hotel (restaurants and a piano bar!!!), but I've heard that it has a horrible cigarette stench. As for the Planet Hollywood hotel, nothing really stands out to me but I've heard the rooms are all newly renovated.

PH was fairly recently renovated and it's geared toward young adults. It has a fun atmosphere, so if you're looking for other young adults and more of a party scene then that's probably your place. Paris is beautiful, but it has a more classy feel about it and doesn't cater as much to young adults. I've never noticed a smell there. I love the buffet at Paris, as well as Mon Ami Gabi, and the casino floor is one of my favorites too. It's one of my favorite Vegas hotels for hanging out.

Planet Hollywood will have a much better vibe for a younger couple as yourself. Paris is more older crowd. But most of the rooms at Planet Hollywood are more chic than Paris. Most basic rooms at Paris are pretty dated

December is winter in Las Vegas. You can hope that the weather is over 50F and not blustering windy. It's even known to snow in the last few days of the month. Few pools are open, so it's good you don't care about it, since you probably won't find one open.

You are looking at 3-star hotels. The sheets are going to be itchy and industrial. Both Planet Hollywood and Paris are owned by Caesars Entertainment Corporation, thus there will be very little difference between them. Paris is a pretty small property and you will notice that when walking through the casino and hotel wings.

As the other person pointed out, Mon Ami Gabi is the best thing about the Paris hotel (or really either of these hotels) but it's no different than The Mon Ami Gabi that you find in other cities.

I've stayed at PH a few times and liked it, however, I haven't stayed at Paris. I don't think you can go wrong with either one as it's pretty much centered on the strip which makes it easier to get around. Check out Mon Ami Gabi at Paris (if you like French food) as it's directly across the fountains at Bellagio. Nice place for dinner and with the fountains running it's pretty cool. Enjoy!
