4. What technological superiority a major factor in the conquest of the Americas?

    No. It definitely played a part in certain battles and stuff but it was mostly European ingenuity that led to the conquest. Like when Cortes conquered the Aztecs, the majority of his army was not composed of Spaniards, it was composed of Natives. He made alliances with all the natives surrounding the Aztecs who hated them and he was able to defeat them.

    Guns and steel represented Europeans’ technological prowess. Metal swords, pikes, armour and firearms, along with ships, livestock and even wheeled carts, gave European colonists significant military advantages over Native American people wielding bows and arrows, clubs, hatchets and spears. The attractiveness of such goods also meant that Indians desired trade with Europeans, despite the danger the newcomers represented.
