Anyone who has studied Latin at school knows the word 'uxor', a wife.
As homicide is the killing of a man, and fratricide is the killing of a brother, and pesticide is the killing of a pest, so uxoricide is the killing of your spouse.

Since the root word "uxori" means wife in Latin, and the suffix "cide" means to kill,
it would be killing a wife.
There's pesticide, homicide, suicide, and now. . . . .uxoricide.

Uxoricide is the act of a man murdering his wife
Mariticide is when a woman murders her husband
.. not to be confused with Matricide which is murdering your mother.

It means the killing of a spouse. Uxor is the latin for spouse (husband/wife) and -cide refers to killing or murder, eg suicide = killing of self, genocide = killing of a people, homicide = killing of a man/person.

I can't even pronounce it, let alone know what it means. Sorry.

Yes, and I don't need to look it up. If you know what "uxorious" means, and you know what "homicide" and "suicide" mean, you can surely work it out.

Yes, I do, and I didn't need to look it up, thanks to my high school Latin classes.
