Is it true? In the army, only soldiers will suffer hardships, Generals will never share hardships?

To be fair - Generals all started as LT , Capts and Majors who are subjected to their share of hardships.

And these generals never suffered hardships when they were lieutenants & captains?? LOL - there are no 'shake & bake' generals.

No one starts as a general. It is true that as one advanced in rank, the duties change. If by "hardships" you mean those associated with being in the field, it is true that most people, by the time they become a general, no longer spend much time in the field.

A General officer will receive additional perks. That comes with the rank.

In Iraq, the division HQ we were attached to had to establish a new area and HQ when they arrived. The first priority was to create a functional command center. Once this was built, living quarters for the Soldiers were established. While work was being done, EVERYONE was living in tents. The Deputy Commanding General had quarters set up, but he refused to move into them until every one of the Soldiers was out of the tents. That is the way he was and he was VERY well respected by the enlisted Soldiers. He knew it was important to "share the hardships" and set an example. The Commanding General and his 2 Deputy Commanding Generals all ate in the dining facility and ate the same food we all ate.

It's safe to say that when you EARN the rank of General........you've also earned the perks that go with that rank......as well as the enormous responsibility.

Generals don't get out on the front line.

The sons of the poor and middle class fight and die in wars, The wealthy and the powerful profit from it. The generals will send you to your death and give your family a flag and a place to bury you! What a bargain. The generals will throw as many bodies into the inferno as is thought necessary to win. It's been like that from the beginning of time. Some of the most arrogant ambitious pricks are US military officers. I hate them all.
