Why did you go into the military?

We grew up poor. My mother was sick. My father was a crazy drunk Vietnam Veteran. I had to be the "adult" of the house when I was about 13 or so. I went into the military to escape the hood, and poverty. "Boot camp" (Basic Military Training) was a vacation to me.I am 54 now. I have been a software developer for over 20 years, but it seems like "yesterday".

I knew I wanted to go to college, but I couldn't afford it. I joined the Army for the G.I. Bill and the Army College Fund.

I'm 20 and I applied for the Canadian Army two years ago just for training and become a disciplined man, they rejected me on account of my mental health record, then I became aware how disgusting the military is, discrimination as common as drug addicts in San Francisco.
