Is time to stop having separate men’s and women’s sports and just have sports?
With the women’s soccer team complaining about their low earnings of only a million or so each, is it time we simply stop having separate sports leagues and have women equally compete with men.
If we got rid of separate sports leagues for women, then it would be clear everyone is earning what they are worth based on their performance

No, cause eventually women would start complaining that it's not fair because they don't win enough and then they would want some type of affirmative action implemented into sports to make sure women win sometimes.

No because it is scientifically proven that men and women have certain strengths and weaknesses. Now there are exceptions but separating the sexes is not a bad thing.

It is already done in some sports like tennis and golf where the prize money is equal.
I think you have to have separate competitions in some sports. For example you wouldn't put a female boxer up against a man. Or you wouldn't put a female rugby team up against a male team.

If you stop separating by demographics, you'll see demographic TRENDS show up in compensation and many people find that distressing.
For instance, tennis Serena Williams would end up being around 700th (according to Bob McEnroe and yes, Serena Williams) in tennis players over-all and would be paid accordingly. Generally, women would be paid less than men and that is a problem to feminists.
You can argue that there would be 699 people putting in better performances than Williams but the market hasn't caught up to your genderless system.

The women don't earn a million dollars each - in fact many of them have had to have other jobs so that they can be professional soccer players. But yes, if women were paid the same percentage of ticket sales that men were, they would be taking a pay cut. The facts are that in many countries it was illegal until relatively recently for women to even play soccer. The sport was re-instituted by the King of England in order to keep the soldiers in condition and less bored when there were no wars going on. Several decades ago, there were not even any women's bathrooms in the locker rooms at stadiums. The reason American Women's soccer is so strong is because of Title IX, not because we are better. Title IX forced colleges to spend money on women's sports and they are not going to play football.

Maybe if we could extract the commercial advertising element from professional sports and bring it back to the workingclass level of income it started out as it wouldn't be such annoying and wasteful spectacle.

That's done in only two sports. Do you know what they are? Answer later. In most sports there are physical differences that preclude competing evenly. For example, most adult women can't keep up with men in swimming races because of their built-in drag. And sometimes, there is a difference in terms of viewer interest. How much interest would be in watching two men mud-wrestle? Oh, BTW, the two sports in which men and women compete together are yachting and equestrian. In these, the greater upper-body strength of men is not a factor. Obviously, I am excluding such sports as mixed-doubles tennis or the amateur sports pitting the different departments of a business against one another at the company picnic. You'd think that there would be other sports where the two sexes could compete evenly. Darts, maybe?

I think women’s sports provides athletic opportunities women wouldn’t otherwise have. If women aren’t happy with this however, perhaps getting rid of separate sports would indeed be best. It might mean the top ranked female tennis player goes to 230 in the rankings, but it certainly would be fair and equal.
