Did you know federal law shields internet companies from lawsuits?
The piece of U.S. law in question, The Communications Decency Act, passed by Congress in 1996 and signed into law by then-President Bill Clinton, has a portion called Section 230 which protects Internet and tech companies from lawsuits.
More recently, there have been calls to limit or repeal Section 230.
