How many of you really, really love a good, terrifying horror book ?? Who is your favorite horror author?

    I am very much into horror, but I prefer short stories

    The Mammoth horror anthologies are an excellent source.

      that is usually it. Royalties are too miniscule to worry about. Reprints can be worth while though.

    I avoid horror books because they may give me nightmares. My son, who has different reading preferences, likes Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft.

    I like Dean Koontz--he slides around into many genres-but lately he's been doing a lot of sci-fi horror about nanobots---and another series on Frankenstein and genetic manipulation.

    favorite horror author is Roger Schumacher, but just short stories, no novel (yet)
