Breathing helium would just cause you to pass out and then die from lack of O2. But the skydiving post is interesting.

I've talked to people about a thousand times on this subject most people that say they want to commit suicide are attention getters they need attention. Friend if you really want to die painlessly and have it chalked up to an accident then pay a couple of hundred dollars and let them take you up skydiving. If you're really suicidal all you have to do is jump out of the plane you don't have to do a single thing more. You hit the ground at about a hundred 75 miles an hour you won't feel a thing. And they'll say it's an accident. If you pull the cord then you will reaffirm to yourself that you're not really suicidal and that you want to live that's why it's excellent therapy. Do you know that most people pull the cord?

Bleach...not good...not necessarily deadly either. Drowning...not a fun way to die. Asphyxiation by an inert gas like helium is expensive and time consuming. CO2 is actually probably the easiest... You just fall asleep...assuming the CO2 levels get above a certain point and rise. No pain. No suffering.
