Are flax seeds raw?

I know that nuts like almonds and cashews are heated before they are edible, but are flax seeds heated before they are sold? Can they be included on a raw vegan diet?

Flax seeds need to be ground for your body to absorb the nutrients and fiber they contain.

    "Are flax seeds raw?"

    - There are more types:

    1) not pealed, only dried, raw.

    2) not pealed, salted and baked/roasted.

    3) pealed, naturally dried, raw.

    4) pealed, salted and baked.

    5) pealed, salted and fried with oil.

"Can they be included on a raw vegan diet?"

    - Absolutely, raw has more nutrients and especially healthy oils. Some less proteins in percents than roasted/baked.

90% of what I eat is raw (or in blender). I get sick from anything cooked.

Nuts like almonds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts do not need to be heated/roasted to be edible.

They need to be roasted so they don't taste like garbage. Whole Foods, Sprouts, Costco, Trader Joes sells raw nuts

    Flaxseed is not normally roasted.

Mass produced cashews are steamed because it is easier to remove the shell. If you have a cashew tree and want to manually remove the shells, it will take some time, but you can. Just like you can manually crack all nuts.
