Why does this need to be answered? Why do you like music? Why do you like certain kinds of food? Why do you like this kind of sports? Why do you like doing that? There’s your answer.

It’s a form of expression. Think about what you love. What gives you joy. Why do you love it? Why does it give you joy? That’s how it is with dancing. It’s kind of unexplainable.

Dance can be really beautiful. I had the good fortune to see the Kirov Ballet perform Scheherazade and The Rites of Spring one night. I was floored.

As with any art form it elevates. It’s all about personal taste. Some enjoy watching dance others hate it. People who dance find that a way to express themselves in the same way as people who like to sing or draw.

*The answer from anonymous about ballet being starting as being porn couldn’t be more historically wrong. Originally only men danced ballet in court. It came from fencing stances. Most dance originates from either fighting or mating rituals. Ballet actually came from fighting, social dance originated as part of mating rituals.

It was Porn for the Rich in the olden days.

It became a SNOB show after.

People being SNOBish like to raise their noses to the Hoi Polloi,

Similar to Shakespier, (a guy who would not spell his own name the same twice)

In those days Porn was nowhere near what we now consider as pornographic.
