How come no matter how little it rains, if it thunders it become a thunderstorm?

    Yes when it rains a bit why can't it be a rain shower, why must it be a storm

    Just b/c more than a little rain from a thunderstorm didn't fall in your backyard doesn't mean the thunderstorm produced little rain. All it means its your location missed most of the rain.
