Actually, it's more to do with ''how often'' you drink .. than ''how much''.

If you drink any amount ''every day'' then you are more likely to be an alcoholic than if you drink heavily ''every now and then''.

It's the ''not being able to go without it'' that means you are an alcoholic.

Is there nobody who knows what an alcoholic actually is?

It has nothing to do with how much a person has drunk, or drinks or how frequently they drink.

An alcoholic is a person who is addicted to alcohol, the way some people are to nicotine. There are people who have been heavy drinkers for decades but never become alcoholics. There are alcoholics who don't drink at all.

It's not about the quantity of alcohol, it's about how your body deals with the alcohol.

A person's ability to tolerate alcohol depends on their genetic origins and other habits. It might take as little as a glass of wine a day - or you might find someone who could drink eight pints of beer a day and be unaffected.

How much has little to do with it. Some alcoholics will tell you that, in retrospect, they can see that they were an alcoholic as soon as they had their first drink.

It's not really how much, but how frequently you get drunk. I'm sure it varies. Many people drink socially for decades until a major life event-such as divorce or job loss-launches them into heavier drinking that spirals into alcoholism.

Depends how strong the alcohol is.
