1. Is this sentence correct:

"Doctors like to receive a thank you BY their patients, whether BY a card, or even BY oral word."

2. Which sounds better:

a) "I wrote a card to my doctor praising him for his COMPETENCE, and thank him for his assistance to me."

Or

b) "I wrote a card to my doctor praising him for his SKILL, and thank him for his assistance to me."

    "Doctors like to receive a thank-you FROM their patients, whether BY a card or IN PERSON."

    Better -

    Doctors like to be thanked by their patients, whether on a card or in person.

    2. Competence is a very low level of skill, so b) is immediately preferable.

    BTW You would thank a doctor and his team

    Doctors like to receive a thank you FROM their parents, whether IN a card or even in person.

    I wrote a letter to my doctor praising his skill, and thanking him for helping me.
