How much does a Doberman cost in comparison to a great dane?

So many variables in this you wouldn't believe. From a Reputable Breeder or a Backyard Breeder (BYBer). From working lines or show lines or a mutt. Are you bargain hunting or are you looking for quality? Mutt or well bred? You need to know what you want before you go looking. If you are looking for well bred dogs, you won't find them in the pound. BYBed stuff, yeah but not well bred dogs.
Reputable breeders or Hobby Breeders breed to BETTER the breed, BYBers do all they can to mess up the breeds. 95% of dogs out there are low quality dogs. They make great pets if they are healthy & cost you a lot of money if not. Many genetic problems in BYBed dogs.

It has nothing to do with breed. The cost of a pup depends on who bred it - ethical breeders do the genetic testing for all of the hereditary things that are in the breed (wobbles in the Doberman for example) and spend time showing their dogs to prove they are worthy to be bred. This means a quality pup will set you back close to $2000. If you mean the 'maintenance' costs then a Dane will cost a lot more than a Doberman due to the sheer size. The are larger so they will eat more, and cost more to flea treat, worm, etc.

How much does a Mustang cost compared to a Chevy Truck? That is how silly your question is.
It depends on the QUALITY of the parents of the dog or the puppies in question (price also varies where you live.) The price of any puppy or dog in HIGH PRICED New Your CITY is more than in Ozark, Mo. if all other qualities are identical (simply due to the high cost of living in NYC. And you would have to ask individual RESCUE groups or Shelters & what THEY charge for adoption (which varies widely) both due to location and due to the age of the dog.

It depends entirely on the breeder, quality of the dog (pet or show quality). Great Danes can vary between $500 (pet quality) to $3000 or more for show quality. I know this because we have bought 2. The particular breeder we used owned these dogs and thought that people should be able to afford them, so she basically was just breeding pet quality dogs. Another breeder we checked into bred show quality and they were very expensive. Our 2 have no health issues and are wonderful dogs. It's probably the same with Dobermans, although the breeders in my area are selling them for $1500 to $2200.
