Theocracy. We see it in lots of laws. Until recently, gay sex was illegal. fuc king another man's wife was illegal. Abortion battles are theocratic battles.

It isn't where I am. Where it is, it's because the government thinks it's immoral.

The ONLY reason prostitution is illegal is because the government cannot control what goes on behind closed doors or the money exchanged for it. There are not any paper trails (invoices, deliveries, products or tangible goods exchanged). Therefore, the government cannot get taxes for it.

Look, we all know how terrible tobacco is for one's health and what the smoking consequences are to our health care industry. But, the government still allows cigarettes to legally be sold. Why on earth? GREED. That's right. The government is making billions of dollars a year in tobacco taxation and the health care institution along with insurance companies are raking in the profits of people being treated for cancer. But, tobacco is perfectly legal, nonetheless.

Cigarettes are easy to track and tax, prostitution is not.

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. GREED.

Because the states aren't getting any money out of it. Look at the numbers games the mafia used to play, everybody doing it was arrested. Now that states are doing it (The Lottery) it's legal.

And marijuana too. Don't worry, states will figure out a way to make money out of prostitution and that's the last you'll hear about its "immorality."

Its not depending on WHAT STATE or country you are in..

STDS are a joke. Legal sodomy is far, far, far more likely to cause STDS, and by that I mean ones like AIDS that kill you. Far more people die from smoking and drinking, yet both are legal. The truth is, legal prostitution is very safe due to health checks. If it's legal, no pimps, no underage girls, and no trafficking. When it's illegal, all that crap happens.

It's harmless, sinless, and natural. It stops rapes, and other acts of violence. This is another one of the millions of reasons why Europe is better than America.

Women who do sex work are keenly aware that their lives literally depend on using safe sex practices. Where prostitution is legal, they are able to get health checks and medical treatment without fear of negative repercussions. Where illegal, the woman's health is often a secondary consideration.

It is not all Pretty Woman and Hookers with hearts of Gold.

Go to Netflix and find the documentaries on prostitution around the world and the world's largest brothel in Germany, where it is legal, and see the problems with the sex trade when it is LEGAL.

Oh, please! We're not talking about people being forced into prostitution! We're talking about people like me who CHOOSE to do it to make a lot of money!

Because the government can't control it and make money off of it.

Mostly because people don't think things through before they make them illegal.

Prostitution has never been a reputable business. We connect sex and love and to make sex about money FEELS wrong. It FEELS dishonorable. However, the women involved keep selling it, and the men involved keep buying it.

So making it illegal hurts everyone. The hooker is less safe because if her 'john' is violent she can't go to the cops for protection nor can she operate in a respectable place where she can be protected. So she has to work for/with a pimp. The pimp just siphons money away from her and often abuses her, but it's better than being killed by a john.

Meanwhile the john is also unable to be sure he's going to someone who is safe or clean, he is vulnerable to the pimp, and similarly can't call the cops if defrauded.

There's more disease, more crime, more disrepute.
