“Hallelujah,” is a word used by the writers of various psalms to invite all to join them in praising Jehovah. In fact, a number of Bible scholars point out that “Hallelujah” means “‘Praise ye Jah,’ [that is] Jehovah.”

    Oxford Dictionary "God be praised"

Merriam Webster Dictionary "used to express praise, joy, or thanks"

The Free Dictionary "an exclamation of praise to God"

Princeton's "a shout or song of praise to God"

Wiktionary "An exclamation used in songs of praise or thanksgiving to God."

Looks like a pretty good sample to me.

Praise Jehovah. Also included in the 150th Psalm.

Source(s): Or “Hallelujah!” “Jah” is a shortened form of the name Jehovah.
