If the US ever gave reparations to descendants of slaves ...?

... would it be fair to just pay it at this point in time or would it be for all generations in the future? Wouldn't it be better to use any money to improve schools and neighborhoods?

The issue just shows how desperately short of ideas the democrats are.

It would be an incredibly difficult exercise to determine who to extend reparations to. There is no one who was a slave who is alive. Therefore, if you choose to repair their descendants, you would have to determine who owned their forefathers. Otherwise, you would actually harm people who:

    -never owned slaves

-never owned slaves and actually fought to free slaves

-were not here when slavery happened.

Think of all the immigrants who have come since slavery ended. Why should their descendants pay? Why did the people in the northeast who owned no slaves and who died in the civil war have to pay?

Do slave descendants owe something to those people who fought for their freedom?

You are right in stating that what we need to do is not give money away, but to make sure that going forward it is spread fairly, and that black communities are given opportunity.

The US doesn't support blood lines. It's why a creditor can't force you to pay your mother's debts. It's why we don't have Royal Families.

Reparations are unamerican at a core level.

    .

If the U.S. government gave any financial reparations to slave descendants, it would encourage victim playing mentalities

and false entitlement attitudes. Black Americans today never experienced being enslaved or the national acceptance of it.

They are U.S. citizens who have adequate access to various services, agencies, programs, and businesses in the United

States. Black people are considerably more likely for their own racial population sizes in white origin or majority nations to

get monetary income assistances and be negatively enabled by it; there should be considerable decrease in U.S. citizens

who receive monetary income assistances from government agencies. Those savings in funds should go toward services

and/or programs that provide psychosocial rehabilitation activities, community integration supports, strict requirements for

receiving benefits, objective law enforcement managements, and extra precaution welfare checks of vulnerable peoples.

Absolutely. And individual who believes there's to be a big personal payout, (and that's if it ever happens, which is highly doubtful), is being very naive.

Can you imagine the rioting that would occur when people were forced to prove that their ancestors actually were slaves. What about all of the descendants of immigrants that came after slavery was ended, Obama for example.
