I'm not sure but in the UK crime stories are very popular as well as literary work. I very rarely see any Stephen King books around shops here.

Difficult question. How would anyone know that? What difference does it make?

My impulse is to say USA but since BBC made an audio drama of Salem's Lot and I haven't seen any American audio drama of Stephen King then maybe he is more popular which Uckians that Unitedstatesians.

I don't know any website that you could look up demographics maybe you could compare the New York Times best sellers list to The Times best sellers list then consider by percentage for UK lower population

I have no idea. He stopped putting out books for so long that he seems to faded into some obscurity.

Uh, I guess, I missed the sarcasm in your answer. ;-)
But you know, there're weird people out there on the internet writing all kinds of nutty stuff.
