Yes, I knew they.
But, equally, it was Christians at the forefront of abolitionism.....and it still is.

Do you know that workers in Asia are like slaves. And the owner of the factorys are not Christians.

Yes, Christians realize that. Do you realize that Christians were largely responsible for ending slavery worldwide? Yes, it was Christians like William Wilberforce that helped end slavery.
The world is filled with injustices and suffering and Christians did not end all of them. Christians are a part of the social network and changes take time. However Christians are also responsible for instituting public education for the lower classes. Christians opened the first general hospitals, the first orphanages, and pushed for social justice for the marginalized.
When social norms believed in witches causing horrible things to happen, they targeted witches. Christians zeal to correct social problems have sometimes caused them to go awry. This is also true for the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition. Yes, it would be nice if Christians never made any mistakes, but Christians are also humans, and often driven by perceptions common in society.

Yep, that happened. And as someone else has noted, the whole international campaign to make slavery illegal was also largely driven by Christians. (I can't claim much credit for my own denomination; it was mostly the Quakers and Methodists who did that.)
The overall lesson here, I think, is that finding a way to justify bad actions using the Bible (or any other source) doesn't make the actions good or just. In the same way, finding an excuse to claim someone else's actions are evil using our interpretation of the Bible (or any other source) doesn't necessarily make the actions evil.
Good and evil are still concepts we argue about. When, as illustrated in the Garden of Eden myth, humanity acquired the "knowledge" of good and evil, that just meant we acquired awareness of the labels, and the ability to argue about them--not any innate ability to be sure which is which.
The problem of deciding which is which is argued about in the rest of the Bible (everything after Genesis chapter 3) and throughout the rest of human history, including Christian history. So far, the best decision principle we've got appears to be the Golden Rule: treat others the way we (if we were in the same circumstances) would want to be treated.

Josef Mengele was a doctor, and mutilated people in the name of science. How dare you support physicians and scientists?

Christians sin! What do you expect? Christians are human, and all humans sin. But they repent of their sins and do their best to remain close to God. Of course, there are those who call themselves Christian, but pay no attention to God's Law or the teachings of Jesus Christ. Therefore they are not truly Christian.

Yeah, and Romans used to feed Christians to the lions! What's your point?
- PubliusLv 77 months ago
Yes, but not ALL Christians, Einstein. There are good and evil in every demographic. It's disingenuous for you to pretend that all Christians are evil based on a subset.

you didn't really tell that much about Christians owning slaves you just said it without any details no date of when it happened no story of it no Bible verse of when Christians owned slaves, in the Bible Egyptians owned slaves, Egyptians weren't Christians.
