NO- IT IS NOT CORRECT! I wish people wouldn't answer questions when they don't know what they're talking about! "much" is used before nouns. "Mysterious" is an adjective. The noun is "mystery.

There is much mystery in history.

Gypsy, I read it as implying 'that is' before 'mysterious'.

    Yes, this is grammatically correct.

No. It's not correct. You could say, "There is much mystery throughout history."

Mysterious can only go in front of a noun. It cannot be used in the way you have written it.

It is grammatically correct, but except in the most formal contexts, most native speakers would prefer to say 'There is much that is mysterious in history' or (more elegantly) 'There is much in history that is mysterious'.

    YYYeessss.....

    Implied:

    - There is much [that is] mysterious in history.

I point out that it sounds awkward as it is worded

and would be better if you included the implied words

but I believe it is grammatically correct.

    Similarly:

    - There is much unknown about the ocean floor.

    Implied:

    - There is much [that is] unknown about the ocean floor.

So: yes, it is grammatically correct, but awkward as it is worded.

No. It can still be much better written but just to improve it grammatically, in one way, is that “mysterious” should be “that is mysterious”. No
