    It's an indirect way of electing the president. Each state gets a number of electoral college members that corresponds to the number of senators and the number of house of reps members. Almost all states give all their members to the candidate who got the most votes. It's essential as given each state has the same number of senators it stops the Democrat infested cesspits in the big cities from dictating who's president. If Australia ever becomes a republic we should have a similar system here.

    We need it or the big cities will always out vote the regions. It's why Australia hasn't decentralized.
