How far out into space is internet access available?

Most cellular phone tower have a range of about 45 miles. However this can and does vary hugely due ti interference and other factors and it can be as low as 6 miles. Steel framed building can seriously interfere with cell signals.

There are some satellites in low earth orbit that can carry Internet signals, but they are pointed down towards the earth. So I guess that is my answer, the highest that Internet can reach is low earth orbit. Cellular and wifi signals do not go very high at all, only a few hundred feet.

The most likely scenario is that it doesn't under normal broadcast strength. Typical wifi strength is only good for approximately 300 feet. That's a bit short of "into space". To get a signal into outer space it takes a strong signal, and one that would have to be directional to get it out there through our atmosphere. Having been a radio operator years ago, the way we could communicate over say a 7000 mile distance was to use the atmosphere to skip the signal at somewhere near midpoint of that distance. Radio is much more powerful than wifi ever thought of being but it could be broadcast as a receivable signal with increased wattage of the signal. The astronauts are getting wifi as part of their communications link with NASA. They are not simply picking it up out of the space environment.

Once "Starlink" is established, about 700 miles out from the face of the Earth, if I remember the stats right...

WiFi only reaches less than 100 feet. That is the only publicly available internet connection.
There are private connections, eg, radio links to commercial aircraft, but they are controlled carefully and not open to the public.

Not very far at all, or maybe there is this huge galactic internet that we have no clue of...
