Can I bring a Himalayan salt lamp on a plane?

I know it's odd, but I need to move it and it's too heavy for my checked baggage. It's a big crystal with with an electric cord coming out of it.

Why wouldn't you be able to?

I see those retailed beside the Salish Sea.

The cliché is "Taking coal to Newcastle".

It is one more thing that can kill anybody

seated within that aircraft when subjected

to weather related shaking if in-flight.

Air crew will not allow entry of that risk..

Just as they decline to carry other overt

    social issues like violent people.

Probably too heavy for carry on.

If you can bring laptops and things, I bet you could bring that. I don't know how expensive yours was, but if you're worried about them confiscating it, then it's probably cheaper to buy a new one than trying to ship it because they're usually too heavy to ship at a reasonable price. Maybe it could fit in a $17 flat rate box from USPS, but it could get damaged if you don't pack it well... then again $17 is pretty close to the cost of an extra checked bag on many airlines.

Duh, that would depend upon the airline, countries, and, of course, the size, shape, and weight of the object.

Size and weight certainly matter even for a carry-on bag.
