I'm not sure where exactly you're conflicted but I presume it's the uncomfortableness of having to explain gay people to your (future) kids. I haven't seen a lot of kids shows recently, but it's true that television has become *way* more inclusive overall. It is no longer a surprise to see gay characters, or characters with disabilities, or of mixed race, or with mixed parents, or single parents, divorced parents, crazy parents or even no parents.
The point is there are a lot of variations in life; the best you can do when you have kids is to say, yup - there are people like that, and to answer any questions they might have as straightforwardly as possible, without making a big deal.
But really, why worry about something that's far off in the future? By the time you get there maybe you or the world will be a different place, so stay in the here and now.
