I miss how SNL, Tonight Show, and Letterman were all free to make fun of all ridiculous politics, no matter which side they were on.
I miss how no TV show was merely a thinly veiled political advertisement.
I miss how people were genuine. They said what they meant and meant what they said.
I miss how people were aware of other people's personal space, walking to one side, taking proper turns at the salad bar.
I miss how politics was barely talked about or acknowledged. You didn't have to worry about finding out people around you think you're bad for voting a particular way.
I miss how honesty was expected and required of most people everywhere.
I miss jello gelatin pops.
I miss how homelessness was just starting to get to be a thing, very rare, almost unheard of.
I miss how there were mental health centers available, and they actually helped people.
I miss how there were no drug advertisements on TV, and doctors actually listened to patients, recommending treatments that made sense, and adhering to a stricter ethical code.
I miss how we all came together, discussing the popular TV shows available on just a few channels.
I miss kids feeling safe playing outside, riding their bikes all over the place until dark.
I miss life being simpler, people having more common sense, things being cheaper, and people having more manners. I miss the optimism people had, and the sense things would only get better in the future.
I really miss how most people simply adhered to 'do unto others" and we mostly all got along, not even knowing what church denomination anybody was, or if they believed at all.
I miss a time when people had to talk to each other and get along, rather than be tied to video games and devices all day.
I miss playing ball at recess.
I miss the way any parent or grandparent around was willing to be helpful to kids other than their own, or most anyone in need.
I miss how parents would scold their kids for bratty, invasive, narcissistic behavior.
I miss how parents, grandparents, and teachers would correct all bad behavior... and preach the virtues of hard work, discipline, respect, and doing the right thing.
I miss how TV shows and commercials would warn us about drugs, alcohol, cheap sex, partying, trusting the wrong people, and scams. I miss how it would paint bad people as bad people, giving bad people more motivation to be good people.
I miss love, kindness, ethics and morality that came from common sense and the Bible, rather than politics that seek to take their place entirely.
