There had been a trope around for years that he might have been fathered by a Jamaican violinist. Think of what the chances of that might have been. Infinitesimal.

Many years ago, a middle school class I was teaching about the Classical era, walked in to a TV set up in my room. Kid 1 "What are we gonna watch? What is it about?". Me "Beethoven." As more kids come in and I am taking attendance, I ask "Does anybody know what serious thing happened to him before he died?". Kid 2 "He went deaf!". Kid 3 "Dang! What good is it having a dog that won't come when you call him??". I SWEAR that this is true . . . You cannot make up middle school stuff.
